model railroad manufacturers are committed to producing most of their products
on a limited run basis. Advance reservations are recommended for most of the
new releases. By the time you read about the product or see an advertisement in
the model press, the ordering period for train shops is closed. To improve your
chances of receiving limited run productsat the best possible price
we suggest the following:

Most manufacturers and distributors provide dealers with
a standard 40% discount on products. There are some exceptions, but this means an MSRP of $100.00 will cost the dealer $60.00. Your cost
would be $60 plus $6 (10%) or $66.00. The formula is MSRP x .60 = Net cost. Net
cost x 1.10 = Your cost. Discounts are always based on
the MSRP, not sale prices.
Example #1: Atlas MasterHO Locomotive priced at $139.95 MSRP;
139.95 x .60 = 83.79.
83.79 x 1.10 = 92.169 or $92.17 your cost.
Example # 2: Walthers HO , MSRP $149.98; 149.98 x .60 =
89.99
89.99 x 1.10 = $98.99
your cost.
